Come, join the celebration...
Leaves are turning.
Fields are giving their bounty.
Mugs are brimming with apple cider.
And Oglesby is celebrating it all with its annual Harvest Fest on Saturday, October 15th. This quintessential small-town, family-focused event boasts a weekend’s worth of activities in one cosy day.
New this year is an escape room. Pit your wits against the latest entertainment adventure as you work together with your roommates to solve a series of riddles, puzzles and obstacles to free yourself from a locked room. Reservations are limited and will be accepted soon at City Hall and online. All proceeds will go to the fund to save the Oglesby Pool.
Colorful booths will line main street as the festival is anchored by a huge craft and vendor fair, Harvest Marketplace, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., where folks strolling through can find any number of homemade and homegrown harvest goodies to treat their Fall fancy.
At 11:30 a.m., exercise your brain and your funny bone as you tackle Oglesby’s one-of-a-kind Scramble, an Amazing Race and scavenger hunt hybrid that awards $900 in cash prizes. Teams of two take to the town to solve a series of clues and complete a number of tasks, designed to both bend your brain and keep you laughing.
The afternoon brings the cornerstone of Harvest Fest, activities designed for children and their families. Characters of all sorts will crowd the town as the costume parade steps off at 3 p.m. Then begins a special evening that will include a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, pumpkin decorating and hot dogs and s’mores around a bonfire.
As the kiddies head home–and babysitters arrive–the zombies come out for the third annual Zombie Pub Crawl at 6:30 p.m. organized by Oglesby’s watering holes. Of-age adults are invited for a night of drink specials, good fun and a $250 cash drawing at Claudette's at 10:30 p.m.
